THE PRANKSTER!

He knew they would be far, far away when the prank would come to full fruition! He took Palmolive Dish liquid and Scope mouthwash and swapped them....pretty neat....both liquids are green. So, halfway from Denver, CO to Granby, CT, our good buddy Oscar Lacafta's wife came down with a bad sore throat. She reached into a bag in the back seat and grabbed the bottle of Scope. A good gargle with Scope would make her throat feel a lot better. She poured a small amount into her mouth and began to gargle....suddenly, bubbles began coming out of her mouth and it didn't even taste like Scope. They pulled the car over and checked the Palmolive bottle....it had mouthwash in it...Somebody had switched them when nobody was looking....Who would've done this????? That's right, Stan Shockley was in their condo...He just hadn't figured on Shorty's wife being the one blowing bubbles....pay back's coming, Stan!!
I just found out this additional info....
At Shorty's condo in Denver, Stan also short-sheeted their bed and put Exlax in their ice cream. Stan, you are in for it!

LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY...

Long ago and far away, in a land that time forgot,
Before the days of Dylan, or the dawn of Camelot.

Ike was in the White House in that land where we were born,
Where navels were for oranges, and Peyton Place was porn.

We learned to gut a muffler, we washed our hair at dawn,
We spread our crinolines to dry in circles on the lawn.

We longed for love and romance, and waited for our Prince,
And Eddie Fisher married Liz, and no one's seen him since.

We danced to 'Little Darlin,' and sang to 'Stagger Lee'
And cried for Buddy Holly in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We fell for Frankie Avalon, Annette was oh, so nice,
And when they made a movie, they never made it twice.

We didn't have a Star Trek Five, or Psycho Two and
Three,Or Rocky-Rambo Twenty in the Land That Made Me, Me.

Miss Kitty had a heart of gold, and Chester had a limp,
And Reagan was a Democrat whose co-star was a chimp.

We had a Mr. Wizard, but not a Mr. T,
Oprah couldn't talk, yet, in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We had our share of heroes, we never thought they'd go,
At least not Bobby Darin, or Marilyn Monroe.

For youth was still eternal, and life was yet to be,
And Elvis was forever in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We'd never seen a rock band Grateful to be Dead,
Airplanes weren't Jefferson, Zeppelins weren't Led.

Beatles lived in gardens then, and Monkees lived in trees,
Madonna was a virgin in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We'd never heard of microwaves, or telephones in cars,
Babies might be bottle-fed, but they weren't grown in jars.

Hardware was a box of nails, and bytes came from a flea,
And rocket ships were fiction in the Land That Made Me, Me.

There were no golden arches, no Perrier to chill,
Fish were not called Wanda, and cats were not called Bill.

And middle-aged was 35 and old was forty-three,
Ancient were our parents in the Land that Made Me, Me.

But all things have a season, or so we've heard them say,
And now instead of Maybelline we swear by Retin-A.

They send us invitations to join AARP,
We've come a long way baby, from the Land That Made Me, Me.

So now we face a brave new world in slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're using smaller print in magazines.

And we tell our children's children of the way it used to be,
Long ago and far away in the Land That Made Me, Me.

MEMORY: WE ALL LOSE IT!

As some of you know, one of our good buddies had a stroke several years back and lost most of his memory from his Cheyenne Air Force days. Well, thanks to some emails, pictures on the blog and some conversation with a couple of the guys, Wayne Adams has started to remember some of us and some of his experiences. If you know Wayne, send him an email. Don't get too bummed if he doesn't remember you right off the bat. This is a slow process with no guarantees. Be patient. His email address is adams2wl@cox.net

CAN OPENER, ANYONE?

Man, I remember opening many a can of rations out at a missile site. My personal favorite was Tuna...hard to mess that up! There were some gross ones...Spaghetti and meat sauce was one I always traded for something else. Let me hear from you guys! What was your favorite and worst?
The old P-38...It also has many uses...screwdriver, bottle opener, knife, fingernail cleaner, etc.

SURGERY

Paul "Jeter" Naples, Worcester, NY had major surgery in California recently. Paul had total right shoulder replacement...WOW! Now in therapy, he will get the left shoulder replaced next. Get well soon, Paul!

HAWAII, ALOHA...!

This is a guy we called "ZEKE". The problem is,
after calling him Zeke for so long, nobody could remember his real name. Try and find a person in the USA with only the name ZEKE! Well, Joe Jarvis to the rescue. His name is Francis Miyazaki, from Hawaii. Next problem? I can't find him. It seems he worked for Stater Bros, a West coast grocery chain, as a butcher...later transferring to some place in Oregon. I think I found 79 Miyazaki's in Oregon...none of them are Francis or Frank. I did get a hit on an unlisted phone number in Honolulu, but no address. If this jogs anyone's memories, let me know.

WHO ARE THEY?

This picture was donated by Shorty Lacafta. Nobody could remember their names until I sent it to Johnnie & Barbara Mugg. They emailed me back and gave me the names. Two cuties, Cathy Bronson and Sharon Ackerman. They were friends of a lot of us, back in the day. they both ended up marrying Airmen and still reside in the area....Mystery solved!!

ONCE UPON A TIME...

Once upon a time, a long time ago, this lady hosted a Purple Buffalo Party at her residence. It is still referred to as "Remember That Party In Cheyenne?"!!! How could any of you, that attended, forget it. I know I'll never forget it. Thanks to Terry Murphy for bringing some fun and happiness to a bunch of lonely guys, far, far from home. Stan Shockley says he still has the recipe....
